Michael Green and Danny Gottleib have compiled a definitive treatise on modern jazz drumming. Through phrase-based musical examples, Green and Gottleib explore the styles of Tony Williams, Elvin Jones and Jack DeJohnette. Exercises are designed to develop coordination, sound sensitivity and creative exploration and are inspired by the comping and soloing of the aforementioned jazz masters. Musical examples are phrase-based. The book includes sections on time studies and phrases for students of any level. Over two and a half -hours of audio accompany the text.
