Pieces are inspired by Vietnamese folk music. The eight beginning bars of Nostalgia, in natural harmonics emulate the unichord, a Vietnamese single-stringed instrument. The two movements of Two Dreams were written ten years apart and triggered by the musical sounds the composer heard upon waking from his actual dreams. The whole piece is polytonal but based on Vietnamese folk tonalities.

Miếng được lấy cảm hứng từ âm nhạc dân gian Việt. Tám thanh đầu Nostalgia, trong giai điệu tự nhiên thi đua unichord, một công cụ đơn dây Việt. Hai phong trào của Hai Dreams đã viết được mười năm xa nhau và kích hoạt bởi các âm thanh âm nhạc của nhà soạn nhạc nghe khi thức dậy từ giấc mơ thực sự của mình. Các mảnh toàn bộ là polytonal nhưng dựa trên sắc điệu dân ca Việt Nam.
