Margaret Rizza has chosen 218 of the most beautiful hymns which are contemplative in nature and which invite us to enter more deeply into prayer. They are perfect for moments of prayer and meditation during church services. Choir leaders will find many are particularly fitting for use during the service of Holy Communion. Margaret Rizza has included some of the hymns for the music, others for their words, many for the simplicity and beauty of both. 'But nearly all were chosen because I have heard them sung - people spontaneously expressing their love and dependence on God through music,' she explains. 'I pray that in singing these hymns you may be drawn more deeply into prayer and to 'Be still and know that I am God'. Psalm 46. 10. Joyce Huggett, who has contributed the Foreword to Be Still and Know , summarises its essential qualities. 'I feel certain that countless Christians who will use them in church services, prayer and meditation groups and Christian communities, will also be humming them in their hearts as they shop, commute, bath the baby, prepare to pray or to worship - or simply bask in God's love.
