This Sonata was born in a phase of creative output of the Californian composer, pianist and organist John Mitchell in the year 2011, a period in which he brought forth twelve other large works. It was a phase, that the Hollywood born composer dedicated above all to the creation of chamber music. The son of the concert pianist John Stewart Mitchell and the opera singer and writer Teresa Hideg Mitchell had been composing music already at the early age of sixteen and enjoyed extensive musical studies with Dr. John Vincent at the University of California, Los Angeles. His prolific creative output currently comprises the large number of over 400 songs, sacred music for choir and orchestra as well as five operas.
