El Saltamontes is a series of four short pieces for E flat clarinet and piano. It is especially significant for me because it belongs to my first composition period. Micro forms of freshness and ease. Typical of youth, but of an accurate elaboration, elaboration, thorough contrast and good synthesis sense. It is dedicated to Lester Chio-Alonso, a Cuban friend and clarinettist who lives in Paris. My Russian musical training comes out in the form of a Prokofian fragrance that one can see intentionally predominating in the briefness of the structures of this series. "El Corazon Delator", a later series of seven pieces for trio of flute, B flat clarinet and bassoon, has been influenced on its timbre, colour, expressive and theme results by it.
