Written in honor of John Pagett's 15th anniversary as Minister of Music at First Congregational Church of Berkeley, California, this Mass stands out in its simplicity. The setting is accessible, as each voice line is written in its most sonorous range. The organ accompaniment adds the warmth and color of a fifth voice line. The "Kyrie", "Sanctus", "Benedictus" and "Agnus Dei" are short. light textured movements. The "Gloria" intersperses unison singing with colorful polyphony. the creed is not included in this setting.
